Some of you might not know this, but I have been a vegetarian my ENTIRE life. Yes, basically since birth.
Since I always get tons of questions about this, I decided to share some personal insight. These are some frequently asked questions:
- Why are you a vegetarian?
Both of my parents were vegetarian when I was born, so they raised me being one. I genuinely believe I’ll die being a vegetarian too.
- Have you ever tried meat?
Yes and no. I have “tasted” chicken and beef and it was okay. What I mean by “tasted” is that I touched it with my tongue due to curiosity but nothing further.
Side note: When I was 13 years old, I once attempted to actually eat chicken during summer camp, but it was impossible for me to swallow it. I believe I’m mentally blocked and simply can’t do it.
- Have you considered becoming a regular meat eater?
I have thought about it, but only due to it being a high protein food. Wanting to increase my muscle mass on a vegetarian diet is a huge challenge. It isn’t impossible, but creativity in the kitchen is a definite must.
- What would make you change your mind?
Honestly, the only situation I can foresee changing my vegetarian diet is if I ever were to be pregnant and had an unexpected craving for meat.
- Do you think everyone should be a vegetarian or a vegan?
No, because these types of diets aren’t beneficial for everyone as we are all individually unique. Instead of going through fad diets, you should work with a nutritionist or dietitian who can provide the proper guidance to achieve your goals.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know a bit more about myself. I would love to hear about you, so please share your thoughts by leaving a comment below or on social media!
