An Open Letter to the Internet


A lot of people see the new year as an opportunity to start fresh with their lives. Others see it as the perfect excuse to resume activities that were given up upon (we’ve all been guilty of this in some way). A few of these activities include consistent gym training, healthy eating, keeping in touch with loved ones, etc. For some reason, ‘life’ tends to get in the way and we get caught up in the routine.

Over the last few months, I’ve been reading a lot of self-help books and paying close attention to my overall well being. Instead of wanting to start ‘fresh’ again this year, I see 2019 as a continuation of all the work I’ve been putting in so far. Reality is that changes don’t happen overnight. Positive results take a lot of sacrifice, determination and discipline.

I can confidently say that the biggest personal skills I’ve developed over the last few months have been time management, discipline and focus. This mind set began when I was training for the Miss Universe Canada 2017 pageant. This experience helped me realize that no matter what comes my way, I can stay focused on my goals by applying constant discipline and mindfulness with time.

At the end of the day, even if you’re feeling unmotivated, keep in mind that you don’t have to wait for the new year to get started. The best time to always take action is NOW. There’s no reason for delays, there’s no reason for excuses. It’s a mindset and a lifestyle.

If you truly want to achieve great things, you must make great changes in your life, and if you’re ever feeling doubtful, remember: action cures fear.
